In his speech, the Head of state noted that owing to the progressive implementation of the program on socio-economic development high, sustainable and balanced economic growth and macroeconomic stability have been secured. So have longer-term mechanisms directed at comprehensive restructuring, diversification and modernization of economy, as well as raising employment and welfare.
February 27. President Islam Karimov meets with Shigeo Katsu, Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, in Oqsaroy.

March 31. President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov meets with Ahmed Bin Abdunabi Macki, Minister of National Economy - Deputy Chairman of the Council for Financial Affairs and Energy Resources of the Sultanate of Oman, in Oqsaroy.
April 7. In Oqsaroy, President Karimov discusses joint projects with Muhammad Hasan Marikan, President of Malaysian Petronas corporation, and Pat Davis, Chief Executive Officer of South African Sasol.
April 23. President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov meets with Chairman of Korean Air, Cho Yangho, in Oqsaroy. The talks serve to exchange views on joint projects, elaborate and implement new ones.
June 4. In Oqsaroy, President Islam Karimov exchanges views on trade, economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with Ibrahim Abdulaziz Al-Assaf, Saudi Minister of Finance.
June 5. President Karimov meets with Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in Oqsaroy, to discuss economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Bahrain.
June 18. President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov confers with Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), in Oqsaroy. Current state and prospects of Uzbekistan-IMF interaction are discussed at the talks.
September 4. In Oqsaroy, President Karimov receives Håkan Samuelsson, Chairman of the Executive Board of MAN SE. Views are exchanged with regard to boosting the cooperation between automotive enterprises in Uzbekistan and MAN, as well as developing and implementing new joint projects.
October 9. President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov discusses cooperation in Oqsaroy with Nick Riley, President of General Motors International Operations and Executive Vice President of General Motors Corporation. Addressed at the meeting are issues concerning production on the new lineup at GM Uzbekistan, expanding the localization of production, increasing its export component, perfecting the strategies for sales in export markets, developing interaction and joint projects in automotive industry.
October 27. President of the Republic of Uzbekistan meets with Vladimir Yakunin, Chairman of CIS Railway Transport Council and President of Russian Railways. Augmenting the cooperation among railroad companies of Uzbekistan and those in CIS and Baltic countries, are deliberated at the talks.
